For our last Biosite we went to meetings on Tuesdays and learned about flowers and pollinators. some skills that we improved on from last semester were involving the students more and asking more questions. This made the kids more interested and they focused better on the content we were teaching. On the day of, we went to the garden and picked flowers for the kids to dissect. We started off by asking the kids what their names were and what they wanted to be when they grow up. Afterwards we taught them about pollinators and how they are slowly dying out. The kids knew a surprising amount about the impact that we have on bees specifically. They were very smart about ways that we could help protect bees from extinction. Afterwards they dissected flowers. We let the kids look at flowers under a microscope and they had a lot of fun.
