For the second time teaching about the worms it was much easier. Santiago, Amanda and I set up the lesson fast and we knew exactly what to do. We did have a bit of a challenge when our game ball was kicked over the classroom roof but we we came up with a back up plan to make sure we didn’t waste time after the kids looked at the worms. We we able to get a nice shady spot for the kids and the were really engaged w out lesson. We would ask them what why knew about worms, we’d pass papers out of the worm anatomy that Amanda printed out to kids in groups of 2 and talk about important fun facts about the worms, inform them about worms and compost if why didn’t know then let them see and touch the worms. At the end of our lesson we would play a quick game of hangman relating it to worms or hot potato depending on what game the kids wanted. Overall this was a fun experience for me to teach 4th graders!
