Teaching:
Once the fourth graders arrived we introduced ourselves to make them feel more comfortable and less shy. We then gave them a little introduction on flowers and pollinators. After this we showed them pictures of pollinators and asked them what they noticed. This got them to interact with us and get more comfortable. Then we went to stations to dissect the flowers. While they dissected the flowers we told them how much we need the bees and other pollinators like them because flowers turn into many different foods and we need fruits and vegetables and they all start as a flower. We also showed them the different parts of the flower on the diagram we made while they dissected . After this we wrapped up and asked then what they learned and answered any questions they had. The teaching went well over all and became easier and better the more times we did it because we knew when to change anything if needed or change something to make it more fun and engaging for them.
