Lauren Shearer part 1

To prepare for the exciting experience of Bio-site, there were numerous things that had to be done. The first was lesson planning. My team and I thought of our main teaching strategy. We would have to focus on the anatomy of the worm before diving right into the lesson and the actual activity part of the session. We didn't want to bore the kids with just talk to we decided to incorporate some interaction portions into the teaching. The most important thing to prepare for something like this is organization and focus. If you spent too much time not getting things done, you wouldn't have anything to teach to the kids. When planning the lesson, my teammates planned out when to do what activity and when to put in things that would help the kids understand what we were teaching. Worms are already exciting, so getting the kids to be interested wouldn't be difficult. In out meeting prior to the actual teaching of the kids, my team and I always discussed what needed to be done that day. I think that planning out our daily goals was a very smart idea because it helped us stay on task. That way we could check off everything we accomplished that day. Overall, preparing for the kids was a little overwhelming but in the end worth it because it was a new type of experience that helped me with life skills and teamwork as well as leadership.
