Biosite Post #2 Colin McCombs

I was really excited to teach the 4th graders from Booksin again and hopefully see some familiar faces return, but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend either of the presentation dates due to school sports and teacher restrictions. Even though I wasn't there for the presentation I was still here helping out my team with all the set up, preparation, and training for Bio site. First me and my team planned out starting our lesson with an ice breaker to introduce everyone to one another. We would introduce our names and then tell the 4th graders a little something about us, and encourage them to do the same. After the ice breaker we would have a short discussion about any of the other science related activities that included composting that they may have experienced. We then  would show them a diagram of the worm anatomy and briefly explained to them about how the worm functions. After the brief lecture we would introduce them to a more fun activity where they would get to interact with the worms and try and find the parts of their body that we discussed. To close it up we decided to pull them in and discuss what they liked the most about the lesson and why and answer any questions they might have. Over all I have deeply enjoyed the experience of Bio site both times this year and I believe it will help me later on down the road whether I'm at school, around little kids, or in future jobs.
