Hailey Kieslich Post #2

Teaching bioSITE was overall an awarding and fun experience. I loved spending time with the kids and helping them understand what we were teaching them. Also they were so happy to learn about everything, they were easy to teach. The day of teaching the fourth graders I ended up really enjoying it because it was fun to interact with them and see how the preparation we took in order to make teaching them easier work and how it really helped us in doing the lesson. For my group we started of with introducing everyone by saying their name and favorite vegetable or fruit to get everyone comfortable with us. We then dived right in and started with the bean dissection lab. The kids really enjoyed doing it and asked a lot of questions. When then took them over to get a closer look of the bean through a microscope. They absolutely loved the microscope. We then did a vegetable and fruit sorting activity it was really fun to see how smart the kids were and how they already knew a lot about it. At the end of everything my team and I asked the kids questions about what we just learned and surprisingly they had really good answers and were really interactive. Overall I really enjoyed bioSITE and would love to do it again.
