The Booksin 4th graders that we taught for Bio-site were very engaging and smart kids. They seemed interested about our topic and gave me their attention the whole time a had them for our Seed Lab station. Me and my partner, Amanda, were very nervous about forgetting what to say and we were also worried if the lesson would go to fast or too slow. We were also very nervous about presenting our topic to these kids because come on who doesn't get stressed out from public speaking. Surprisingly the lesson ran really well and I felt like I interacted with the kids and their parents really well. I got to know everyone that I had in my groups and answered all of their questions about my time at Booksin, Willow Glen Middle, and even the high school. I was really nervous to talk to the parents of the kids because I wasn't prepared for anyone else than the 4th graders but the parents were really nice. They said that we had by far the best lesson plan and we were the most engaging with the kids out of all of the groups. They even said after we were done that we by far exceeded their expectations and according to the kids and a more fun lesson than the chickens. The kids had an amazing time and it wowed me to see them collaborating and working so hard to solve the plant matching activity. I was also amazed by their creativity and their artistic skills in the Frankenstein activity. They drew some really imaginative Frankenstein plants that even when us 9th graders did the activity in training we couldn't draw that well. The kids also found the dissection really interesting and were blown away when looking at the leaf and bean membrane under the microscope, we couldn't pull them away. This was an amazing experience being about to teach kids about something and let them leave with having learned a lot but also having fun in the process. I had a lot of fun dong Bio-site this semester and I'm looking forward to part two in the spring.
