Teaching the fourth graders was hectic but exciting. It was nice to see them excited and engaging what we had planned from them. Even though I had some experience in teaching most of them, I was still nervous because I was giving off new information to them. I had remembered seeing most kids but it was nice to see some new faces. From this exciting experience, I had learned that kids will engage in what they're interested in, but the minute they lose interest, they'll roam off to find something fun. Most kids are also really bold, I had learned that as well when teaching them. They'll say what's on their mind, even if it's not so nice. For example, since I'm a smaller person, there were a handful of children that were either my height or taller. Because of this, some kids would make jokes about it and wouldn't listen to me when I had tried to give instructions or teach them. One thing that worked out well was the talk about pollination. Most kids new about the crisis on bees as well as a handful of pollinators. After giving them an example on more pollinators, a lot of them were surprised because they had not known some information I'd give them. Something my group and I could improve on would be keeping the kids together and on task. There would be a lot of kids who did what they were asked, but a lot of them got anxious and would do a whole other thing that would get them and other kids into trouble. It wasn't fun watching kids get yelled at my chaperones, but what had to be done was done. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I hope I had an impact on these kids. These kids had taught me something when it was my job to be their teacher.
