The teaching itself ran very smoothly. We started off with worm fun facts. These acted as a hook to draw in their attention to listen to us. I would say that this was effective. We then moved into worm anatomy with the help of our worm lab. We asked each student to write down observations that they made about the worms and possible reasons for why they were this way. After this we played pin the tail on the worm with internal worm anatomy. We ended the session with worm composting. Here I taught each fourth-grader about how worms can benefit the environment by acting as decomposers. In summary, I believe that teaching the fourth graders went very well this time. There were no serious problems within our group. If we could do anything better, I believe that we should as a group of teachers work on our enthusiasm around little children. However they are little children, after all.
