This was my first time doing biotite so its safe to say I was a little nervous when the first teaching day came around, but my group, who had all done biosite the first time, assured me there was nothing to be worried about, so it quickly went away. As soon as the first group of the day arrived I knew it was going to be a fun day, and it was. We started off with a simple name game which allowed my group and I to learn all the kids names and connect a little bit with them, but after that we got straight into learning all about flowers. We had them look at a poster of all the flower parts and discussed them in depth, many of the kids came up with clever ways to remind themselves what each part is. As this went on we took kids over to the microscope in pairs to discover what the parts looked like up close on a real flower. All the kids were so eager to learn and though at times they got a little rowdy it was a great experience. They loved being able to see the flowers at such a close distance, and especially loved being able to see the ovary. Both day went really well and I'm overall very glad I got to be apart of such a wonderful program.
