Preparation - Christina Lefler

The preparation this time around was, in my opinion, a lot easier that last year. It was still a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun to do and it was really exciting knowing we would get to see the 4th graders when we started teaching. I did have to do my own research on the parts of the plant, although I knew quite a bit about them already, just to be prepared for any questions the kids might have. I made sure to attend every meeting I could so I would know what the schedule was for when the kids were going to arrive and to help my team with anything they needed. During one of these meetings, Annika and I made a poster of the flower, labeling each part with sticky notes, to use as a way to teach the kids about the functions of the flower. We created a lesson plan, figured out which member of the group was in charge of each activity, and how long each activity would be. Overall, the preparation for teaching was great and what made it better was knowing that we would get to meet the 4th graders.
