Preparation -Annika Gordon

This was my first time doing biosite so I was super excited to get started. I was looking forward to teaching 4th graders, though I had no idea what to expect. Over the course of a couple biotite meetings we learned about what we would be doing and when. My group, Zoe, Madison, Christina, and I all decided that we wanted to teach the flower dissection, but because we had forgotten some of the anatomy we had to relearn a few things before we started anything else. After that though we quickly got going. We decided that to show the different parts of a flower we wanted to use a poster so that the 4th graders would know where all the parts were as well as letting them look at lots of different kinds of flowers up close. We new we had to plan our time wisely so that we could get as much information in as possible, so we then started filling out the lesson planer given to us. Realizing we had more time than we planned for we all decided to learn more about pollinators so that we could talk in depth about them and how they help flowers. When the day to teach finally came we went in early to set up everything and were then ready.
