In preparation for our activity we first needed to understand what we would teach. We were taught about the activity first and then started to plan out what we would do. We first decided what we should add to the lesson. One of my teammates thought of a poster and that we have them label some things on the poster. That poster would help them try and get an idea of what a watershed would be before we do the activity and tell them about it. After thinking of that idea we needed to plan out what we order we would do thing. We decided to start with the poster, then talk to them about what a watershed is. After that we would do the activity with the paper and squirt bottles, then talk to them about what they learned. At the end we would do the analogy of comparing the watershed to a bowl of soup.
The two days went really well. The first day went better then expected since we didn't have one member that day. They poster worked because the kids wanted to place one of the sticky notes where they thought it went. Also they really liked comparing the watershed to soup. They also really liked the activity with the paper and markers with the spray bottle. If we finished everything with some time left we would show them around the garden until the time ended. Two really cool things that happened are that one of the kids guessed correctly what each color would represent and that some of the groups asked us why we are doing what we are doing. So we would tell them about the service project and how most of the things in the garden are there because students help make them. Also how all the murals are student made. Overall it was a great experience for me and my group and for the children.
