On the first day of teaching I was really excited and not at all nervous, because I had done BioSite before. The first thing we did was welcome the 4th graders and then we got to it. The first activity was an icebreaker where they had to say their name and what they knew about flowers. I thought this was a cool activity because we did a similar thing at the end where they talked about what they knew about flowers after our station. It was really cool seeing how much they learned about flowers and pollinators because of our group. After the icebreaker we had the next activity that included a big poster of the flower's structures and post it's of the structures names. We had them try to guess where the structures belonged on the flower. After that we then corrected them and explained each of the structures function. Then we gave the kids their own flower so they could try and find the main structures and recite to us their function. Then we showed them what those structures looked like under the microscope. Once they saw all of the parts we had them do the poster activity one more time. If there was more time we would summarize what we learned and explain what pollinators do and why they are so important.
