My original idea for my service learning project was to do a cooking demonstration with Helen, however, due to scheduling, communication, and a multitude of other problems this project fell through. When we heard about BioSite, we planned to do it as a side project along with our cooking demonstration, but it soon became our sole priority. Over the course of the next few weeks, I formed a group with two other girls, Aja and Zoe, and we made plans to teach the 4th graders about composting. At first we were unsure of what exactly we were going to do with the kids once we got there, but with some helpful suggestions from other people, we settled on lesson plan that seemed to go over really well with the kids. We played a game, let them dig through the compost and had them sort out what they thought could and couldn't be composted. Once all our prep-work was done, it was time to teach the kids.
