I was unsure of what I would originally choose for my service learning project. I thought, maybe a cooking demonstration, maybe a mural... Then I heard about Biosite (teaching a science topic to fourth graders). When I heard this idea I was pretty excited because I love little kids. I was also thrilled because I would know some of the teachers coming to chaperone because Booksin was my former elementary school. When I attended the first meeting I liked the hands on, self teaching method that we were taught. I wanted to make sure that I allowed the kids do this too. As December approached the pressure was on. Christina, Aja, and I formed a group and discussed our goals for the project. A plan for the lesson was made and we were excited to begin. We decided that our lesson would be: an ice breaker game, compost investigation, and trash time line activities. The kids said they loved the station and couldn't wait to tell their families about their day.
